Felix Manalo and the Mormons

I came across an account of a mormon missionary on the web with the following anecdote:

I served in the Philippines Mission from Nov. 1967 to Nov. 1969. My group of 7 Elders and 1 Sister were the first called to the newly organized Philippines Mission in 1967. We served under Paul S. Rose, who had arrived in August of 1967. The Missionaries serving there, up to that time, were from the Southern Far East Mission. About 70 Elders were assigned to the Philippines when our group arrived. At the time, the total members in the Philippines was about 3400. The goal for the coming year was to baptize another 1000. (Compare that to the approximate 400,000 there now.) One of the most peculiar stories circulating amongst the Elders, and even mentioned in our orientation those first few days after our arrival was about the Iglesia Ng Kristo church, (literally translated "Church of Christ) nicknamed the INK. The reason for its being mentioned was its similarities to and its early beginnings as a result of contact by its founder with the Mormons in Salt Lake City. The founder of the Iglesia Ng Kristo was a Filipino man named Manalo. Sometime around 1915-1918 it is alleged that Manalo went to see the Mormon President, Joseph F. Smith. The story is that he gained an appointment with Pres. Smith and in that meeting, told Smith that he believed the Mormon Church to be the true Church. He asked that Pres. Smith make him an Apostle and he would then return to the Philippines and do a great work, including bringing a million members into the Church. That would have been an extraordinary number, considering that the total number of Mormons in the world at the time was less than 1 million. Manalo's offer was rejected. He returned to the Philippines, and using the Mormon church as a pattern proceeded to organize a church and bring over a million people into it. He proclaimed himself to be the "Angel of the East" as mentioned in Revelations. He declared that he was empowered to restore the true church to the earth, and that prophesy declared that the that come from the "isles of the sea". Every scripture in Isaiah and Revelations that mentions angels returning or "isles of the sea" have a place in the doctrinal underpinnings of that Church. Remarkable to the Mormon Elders serving in the Philippines is the similarities in architecture, church organization, fervor, and member participation. The Assembly Hall in Salt Lake City could be the source form of many Iglesia Ng Kristo buildings both inside and out, including spires, roof line, interior balconies, organ loft, etc. In northern Manila there a six spired large beautiful building that is a modern rendition of the Salt Lake temple. It is hauntingly similar to the Washington Temple, so much so that Filipino Mormons are sometimes made anxious by their Inglesia Ng Kristo friends when the two buildings are compared. It is reported that an LDS General Authority said about those INK buildings, that one day they would be used by congregations of Mormons.

Though this account is hard to prove, I may offer some of what I have gathered over the years.

This acts as the gateway to Brigham Young's properties which includes the Lion House which houses the rest of his wives, so called for the lion statue guarding the gates of the house. Brigham Young is sometimes called "Lion of the Lord" by the LDS.

During the research I have done, I have come across more interesting facts:

The Mormons have their official choir, the world famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mormon_Tabernacle_Choir
Interestingly enough, the INC boasts of their own INC Tabernacle Choir.

The INC's Tabernakulo has so much similarity with the Mormon Tabernacle at their Temple Square with regards to its dimensions and other features that it deserves it's own blog page. Stay tuned for that.

The INC calls its university the New Era University. Incidentally, Ka Erdie's name was a play on New Era: Era New - EraƱo. The Church of Jesus Christ and the Latter Day Saints publishes an official magazine called New Era.

http://www.lds.org/ldsorg/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=7fcee975d2a2b010VgnVCM1000004d82620aRCRD&locale=0

The LDS are said to have entered into a New Era under Brigham Young when he established the Salt Lake City colony.

There are others, such as the practive of block voting, which was practiced by the Mormons during their time at Nauvoo to assert their position as a minority, a belief which they abandoned as a condition for Utah's statehood and entry into the Union.

And then there is the last messenger doctrine (Felix Manalo vs Joseph Smith) and the church restoration doctrine.

you are the only one that can testify of the truthfulness of the gospel. in the bible it says that "by there fruits ye shall know them".. every prophet has a fruit.. noah = ark , moses = the ten commandments... joseph smith = the book of mormon.. if your going to read, ponder and pray about it and ask Heavenly Father with a sincere heart if these things are true.. and by the power of the Holy Ghost you will know that its true.. ..take that challenge to read the book of mormon... I know and I testify that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ( Mormon Church ) is the only True church in the universe. The Church that was built by Jesus Christ during his ministry here on earth and was restored by the prophet Joseph Smith. If you are looking for the truth you can find it in this church. We don't have to prove its truthfulness for you yourself can know it by the power of the Holy Ghost. ''And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. '' (Moroni 10:4) Try to read the bible and book of mormon so you would know the truth.

I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the only true church in the universe. I know that Joseph Smith is the prophet of restoration. I know that the Book of Mormon does not contradict the Bible. I know that God loves us so much that he gave not only the Bible but also the other scriptures like the Book of Mormon for us to know the real gospel. I know that we have a living prophet. I know that if you would pray and if you would ask God which is the true church, you will feel the whisper of the Holy Ghost that the LDS is the only true church. I know all this things are true and I share it in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

I am a Latter-Day Saint since birth. And I can say I have, in my 34 years of existence, observed, compared and studied different sects here in our country.

I have observed that all religions practically teaches its members to do good things. I have known members of INC who are good people. I respect, and we should as Latter-Day Saints respect other's people belief if we want to be identified "by our fruits". A

Any denomination who critisizes, destroys or makes fun of other religion is definitely of the devil. It is good to share beliefs but not to belittle others.

Like Anonymous, I also know and believe, not just an opinion of mine, that LDS church is the true church restored nowadays. I would like to invite good INC members for a little session, share our thoughts and feelings about what we know and stand for. You can know for yourself. No pressure,no debates,no bashing. Remember, by their fruits you shall know them.

For the Mormon Church to say that Brother Felix Y Manalo claims that the Mormond Church is the true church is a HEARSAY, ABSOLUTELY FALSE AND A GREAT LIE.

There is no spoken, historical, legal or written documents to support the Mormon Church's absurd, ridiculous and extremely desperate claims.

Brother Felix Y Manalo was NEVER and WILL NEVER be a member of the Mormon Church.

The very truth is, the IGLESIA NI CRISTO is the fulfillment of many biblical prophecies and the restored and only TRUE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST in the latter days.

The Mormon Church is afraid of the INC because the INC is a much more stronger, powerful and the fastest growing religious organisation in the world today.

We invite you to come and listen to our bible studies, worship services and mission gatherings.

I am a third generation member of the Iglesia ni Cristo, born and raised in the United States.

From what I have gathered through the official teachings and publications of the Church, as well as other sources, Felix Y. Manalo was a member of several religions before founding the Iglesia ni Cristo or Church of Christ; specifically the Roman Catholic Church and the Seventh Day Adventists.

However, there is no historical documentation that Felix Y. Manalo was ever a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, or that he has ever even set foot in the state of Utah, let alone meet with the President of the LDS Church.

These rumors most likely stem from the similarities shared by both religions.
The most obvious of such similarities are the architecture utilized by both churches. Iglesia ni Cristo architecture is neo-gothic in theme and is based off the work of former official Church Architect, Carlos Antonio Santos-Viola, a renowned Philippine architect who was not even a member of the INC, but rather a devout Catholic his entire life. It was not “copied” from the LDS Church. Rather, both religions lend their architectural styles to the Catholic Church.

The INC and the LDS are also very similar in theology.
For example, both the Iglesia ni Cristo and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints are non-trinitarian, believe their respective founders to be sent or commissioned by God to restore the true Church, and that the land of their origin holds biblical relevance (the LDS Church teaches that Jesus Christ revealed himself to the inhabitants of North America and the INC teaches that the Philippines was prophesied to be the location for the restoration of the true Church in the latter times).

Growing up in America, many of my friends throughout childhood and even to this day are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In fact, one of my best friends is currently serving a mission for the Church in Bacolod City in the Philippines. I have attended many LDS sacrament meetings and classes (as well as have dinner with missionaries on occasion) and I have a deep appreciation for not only the members of the LDS Church, but the religion itself.

With that said, I must also defend my own religion, which I love very much, and dispell these harmful rumors about the Iglesia ni Cristo and God's Last Messenger, our beloved Brother Felix Y. Manalo. Indeed there are more than a few people who seek to criticize the Church of Christ, and I respect their opinions and ideas with and open mind. However, it is extremely necessary to separate fact from fiction and this article is truly the work of rumors.

Have a nice day and God Bless.

sabi nga "No man can save by igonorance"..we need to search for our own salvation bec. it will be our eternal destiny.we need to pray, search and ponder about it..otherwise we may become blindmen followers ng isang religion that wouldn't help us to gain the eternal life and exaltation..True church must seek true revelation and earnest prayer to call prophets and apostles and not in dynasty order in the presidency or it must be prayed and have seeked revelation for the position to be filled up like the primitive church of Jesus Christ. The way to eternal life isnt easy bec. there are alot of commandments needs to follow so as when we enter baptism ,there are alot of commandments to obey first before we can baptize bec. there is a covenant between you and the Lord, this is what other people think that Mormon is not an easy religion to entered in, but only those who are willing to follow the true path to eternal life and those who are willing and can abide and follow the Lord's standard to enter His kindom..There are things that should be revealed and not to be revealed even if it's true or not so let us leave them to the Lord and let the Lord reveal it one day.Only we need to seek, search, ponder and pray in working out for our own and salvation and help others gain their salvation too by sharing the gospel.Only the true gospel who can solve the problems in the world and only true followers who can have peace in this life and in the next life to come.

Neither INC nor the LDS are the TRUE earthly church

Read the last lines of Rev as to what one is doing when a church adds to the BIBLe and you will see that the Mormons have added to God`s WORD by having their own Book of Mormons.

INC is a false church in that its guilty of man-made doctrines derived from erroneous conclusions from scripture.

The list includes the erroneous emphasis on a WATER baptism being a necsssity to one attaining salvation.

BE it Church of Christ or church of God or Church of the Lord in the original language a true believer knows that since JESUS is God amomg us that any of these titles is fine.

Reason being Acts 20:28 is NOT referring to a physical earthly church begun in 1914!

The word CHURCH is from the greek meaning `` ƀLL those pertaining to or belonging to God``
CHURCH is the eternal church of God comprised of all of the ELECTED that were JESUS`s body when HE paid the penalty and WASHED their sins by HIS BAPTISM!

Anonymous said...

THE CHURCH OF CHRIST WAS ESTABLISHED BY OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST HIM SELF, IT MEANS THE NAME "IGLESIA NI CRISTO (CHURCH OF CHRIST)" WAS ENOUGH TO PROVE THAT INC WAS JESUS' BODY AND HE'S THE CHURCH'S SAVIOUR. THE LATTER DAY SAINTS WAS JUST A PRODUCT OF THE TEACHINGS OF THE DEMONIC PROPHETS' WORK AND THEY WILL BE THE FIRST IN LINE TO BE BURNED IN HELL WITH THEIR FATHER "SATAN".

hahaha... para sa mga INC-1914, pkisagot nga po ito...

-did Jesus Christ left the 1st century church? and the used F. Manalo or re-establish his church? if yes, how come that the church is still standing with billions of members worldwide?

-if F. Manalo is an 'angel' and Christ is a man, how come that a man is higher than an angel? since angels are higher kind, angels are spiritual beings they don't die like Felix but why did he died?

-can muslims and buddhists be saved if they don't enter your INC-1914? and did Christ only died for your own INC-1914 not for all mankind which is created by God the Father?

-(to all ANTI-CATHOLICS)since you all love to read according to the Bible, WHO COMPILED THE BIBLE?

I appreciate the way some of the INC members stand for their religion. But what I dont appreciate is how you explain things WITHOUT UNDERSTANDING THE SUBSTANCE OF WHAT YOU ARE SAYING. I have invited a few INC to explain things tome, without engaging on debates. So far, no one was able to answer my inquiries. I am a LDS by birth and of 35 years of existence here on earth, my belief relative to the truthfulness of the LDS Church remains to be unshaken because I studied it and everything make sense. unlike your doctrines especially about Christ being not a God, that for me is absolutely absurd.

To you members of INC who professes open mindedness, search well your doctrines, you may basing your belief on blind heresays. Be factual and search what is true and with sense. I have done it, I cannot find any doctrine in our Church that is off with the Lord's teachings because I knew it and I have studied about it.

In the Name Of JESUS CHRIST, amen.

--> 8. Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10. But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD the God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, now thy son, nor the daughter , thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11. For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: Wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

:D no offense....

I remembered Jesus Christ Said "Kung Mabuti ka lang sa mabuti sayo, bakit ka Pag-papalain..Ang bulag ay di makaka-akay ng isa ding bulag, pareho silang mahuhulog sa Hukay.."
We have a freedom to choose our agency and we will be judge according to our work..

I know the LDS Church was already exists ng 1830 pa.

Let's Love one another. :)

Jesus Christ Said "Lumapit kayo saakin at Makinig ng Mag kar-on kayo ng Buhay, Tawagin sya habang Malapit pa.

2The Father who created all things is the only true God. There is no Trinity, no three persons in one God.
Kung isa lang ang god. Bakit si christ kailangan irecognize as a son of god?
Christ should be highly honored and worshiped by members of the Church of Christ because this is the will of God (Phil.2:9-11). Christ should be recognized as the Son of God (Mt.3:7), Lord (Acts 2:36), Saviour (Acts 5:31), Mediator (1Tim.2:5), a holy man who did not commit sin (1 Pet.2:21-22). The attributes mentioned here give no indication to His nature which we believe is of a man
The members of the Church of Christ believe that it is God who forbids the eating of blood and prohibits marriage with those of other faiths. Elopement is an act of disrespect for parents and this is a sin in the eyes of God.
25.The Church of Christ believes that unity is God's teaching and that division within the Church is an evil thing. This unity is implemented by the Church of Christ not only during election time but also in all its works in the service of God.

dude..you compare two building of different style..i agree both are from gothic period but why dont you compare san diego temple and the one in your main INC temple ..that has a similarity, then dome shape is similar to the old tabernacle building(not used anymore) as compared to one you have in Quezon city..temple designed based on geographic locations so not all temples of mormons are the same..Second, lds church was established is 1830, lds missionaries has 50,000 more in numbers , do the math if how many of those missionaries baptize each day, nothing compare what INC brag about many join and your choice and fastest growing church.., in the Phils. perhaps but never in the world..and common, joining your church kayo lang maliligtas? absurd..dude..so a sinful INC member regardless on what he did is still save?

This is unreliable source of information. Now I know where some members of the LDS church get there information about Felix Manalo being a member, his death bed testimony, and so forth. The problem with some members is they do not know how to distinguish reliable from unreliable sources of information. They do not know the difference between truth and opinion. When they read or heard someone talk about this and that, they tell others as if they got the information from an official declaration. And this is how unreliable information which are accepted by some careless members as truth spread out like wild fire. When I served a full time mission in 2005 - 2007, I often hear even from some missionaries talking about wonderful stories of angels, 3 Nephites, and so forth. And when I asked them where they got the information from, they will either say they heard it from others or they do not know.

Joseph Smith didn't restore anything, Jesus Christ did. He used Joseph Smith as an instrument. Joseph's goodness was all a result of his dealings with the Savior and his willingness to follow. Mormon cultural admiration of Joseph at times borders on worship of him. But it's like Ammon said to Lamoni, "I am a man." That is ALL Joseph Smith was, and all he ever reported to be. Yes he was the Kasangkapan ng Diyos, but he is not God himself.

mga LDS Joseph Smith said contend not to any another churches..

kaya, just let them know about our church, how it is founded, they have the right to know..

when joseph smith was 14 yrs old he keep on asking himself to what congregation will he attend to and what is the true church,he tried to search the bible for answers and read James 1:5 (if any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.), and ponder on it.. and then one day he went to the woods kneeled down and pray, at first there was some force that tried destructing him from praying, but with all his strength he keep on calling the Holy name of the Lord.Just at this moment of great alarm, he saw a pillar of light exactly over his head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon him. not sooner he found himself delivered from that enemy which held him bound.when the light rested upon him he saw two personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above him in the air. One of them spake to him calling him by name pointing to the other and said "This is my Beloved Son. Hear Him". Joseph asked to what sect will he join, but he was answered to join none of them, the Lord tell him many things and then departed.

and thus was the start of the directions of the Lord for the restoration of His Church through Joseph Smith..

Felix Manalo Ysagun was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints during the time of President Joseph F. Smith. That said because his scholastic records at Brigham Young University still exists. What is the catch? At that time, you cannot be enrolled and study at BYU unless you are a member of the Church. You cannot find historical church records at this time because Mr. Ysagun was excommunicated. He volunteered to become an Apostle and promised the Church to bring converts from the Philippines. Now, becoming an Apostle is not the way he thinks it is. It is done by being called of God by prophecy and revelation and ordained by those who are in authority to preach the Gospel and administer the ordinances thereof. Because of that he got offended and left the church and started to preach the same doctrines he learned as these doctrines are new to Filipinos. He was excommunicated because of organizing his own church. Excommunication means that all your records from day one are discarded and erased as if you did not exist at all. However, his scholastic records at BYU is still there and is the only evidence of this untold story of Felix Manalo Ysagun, a Mormon.

Major Fact:

Pag may dumaan na missionary diyan papasukin niyo at pakinggan niyo. cant believe Inc was the true church, they are defending their doctrine in a manner of debating which basically not a good thing to do in sharing the gospel if that whats their purpose is, come on, be humble you cant prove/share any word of God in an angry manner. A true testimony of the truth may manifest in a humble way where the Spirit of the Lord dwells. Satan cause people to be miserable and to contend one another...so if you truely have the truth, you dont have to invite satan in your sharing of the doctrine. people can feel it by thier own study, if they would only humble themselves before God asking the Lord to have that wisdom for knowing the truth.

Dont be so proud INC!!!! you only makes other people anger with you. be an example of the believer...we are not please of your way of debating with other religions!!! so please be a GOOD EXAMPLE!!!!

you are Boasting of those worldly things you acquire? and using Gods word just to please people to be converted in your religion? and belittle other religion just to make your religion popular? The Lord didn't have that kind of teachings anyway......

"Kung sino man sainyo ang nagkukulang ng karunungan ay magtanong sa Diyos na hindi nanunumbat at ito'y ibibigay sa kanya."

James 1:5 (bible yan ha)

If you have the desire to know the truth, I exhort you to ask God.

Lahat ng pinagtatalunan dito, maging si manalo man ay mormon (which is true) who was excommunicated, if the Book of mormon is true, and if The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints is not the true church of Jesus Christ, I invite you to ask God. I know that you will receive an answer from on high IF and only IF you shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent , having faith in Christ, He will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of Holy Ghost.

I testify that Jesus Christ established His TRUE church upon the earth for the salvation of mankind. And He calls prophet, seers and revelators (apostles) to preach His gospel.

"We claim the privilege of worshipping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where or what they may."

"We believe that a man must be called of God by PROPHECY, and by the laying on of hands (just like what Jesus Christ did as he called the twelve apostles) by those who are in authority to preach the gospel and ADMINISTER in the ORDINANCES thereof. "

I invite you everyone who is not yet a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints to ask God with LOWLINESS OF HEART. Kasi kahit magpatotoo pa kami dito, but if you are hardhearted people, at hindi kayo humble... YOU will NEVER receive an answer.

I invite you Brothers and sisters.

Thank you.

Funny how religious organizations teach righteousness, yet members keep judging others. Funny how members of some religious organizations stand about what they believe is true, yet persecuting others. That doesn't make you any different from the non-believers. You can call yourselves rather hypocrites. How sad. Don't just listen to rumors. If you wanna know the truth, then search for it, and pray for it.

Unknown said...

For me there is too much similarity from the INC in it's buildings (particularly its's version of temple and tabernacle- even the name?) for coincidence, Come on, can anyone defend this? The point about arguing though is so correct. We know from Daniel, that the Lord's kingdom will never go away, so if you are in the true church of Christ, you should have no fear. if you are not however, you may choose, even support aggression, bashing, decrying other religions to set your own above them? By their fruits ye shall know them absolutely. About Felix Manalo having been at BYU and therefore having been a mormon could be proved, would it make any difference to any INC members? I doubt. Speaking from a Latter Day Saint perspective, we want to encourage and support all followers of Christ in so far as they follow true principles in word, and in deed. Since we all should be bound by the bible's greatest commandments, if we are living in accord with the bible (for staters), we should abound together only in love, in which case where is there room for contention? The truth will work itself out one day. Out of respect for those in this INC, I have read into your 25 doctrines, your claims about what you say Isaiah says, your views on the divinity of Christ and I was frankly astounded at how plainly obviously untrue (from the bible only) these doctrines appear wrong. I am not a scholar, I confess, but in the little time I have had, i can see this plainly. Not to attack my brothers and sisters in the INC therefore, but because I see a lot of common ground and many good good people in this religion, I would invite you to firstly ask if you have had a confirmation of the spirit (Holy Ghost) about the truthfulness of these doctrines? I would also challenge you to read them, read the biblical scriptures in the tracts you learn or quote and ask yourself if it really is 'what the bible says'. Not out of argument, but out of simple discussion, I am quite confident, I could show you in several instances where these are not right. But you look. What worries me is that in your worship, you don't look, that it all comes from 'the minister', keeping you in ignorance? Loom for yourselves and then ask, was Christ God before, are we still conscious after death, read all the chapters in Isaiah pertaining to a messenger, look at who Isaiah is talking talking to and about, make a simple earnest enquiry. Consider this also, that free agency is a gift from God, that it is not a sin to go to another church. If anyone tells you it is forbidden, they are seeking to control you. It should not be an issue as you seek truth, because God loves you and will always bring you home. i hope INC readers, you can read these words fairly and more importantly, pray on these issues. Thanks for reading and may God watch over us all in His mission of love and may we truly be instruments in His hands and angels one to another.

I am a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have been a member since 1991. I also served a mission for 2 years. I testify that the church (LDS) is the only church on earth that Jesus Christ approves since this is his church. He himself manifested it during the reorganization of the church on April 6, 1930, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

We believe that all men are entitled to their own belief and respect their own practices. The Spirit of the Lord will not dwell among us if we continue to bash on other people's belief. Whether Felix Manalo copied The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or not, that is not relevant. God is not a respecter of persons. He will reveal the truth to those who really seeks it through reading, pondering, and praying with open heart and a sound mind. This is the only way we Latter-day Saint can ask anyone to know if what we are preaching is true.

A lot of speculation on here. I have yet to see references of any of this to primary sources.

On the subject of whether Felix Manalo was a Mormon or not there is a simple way to determine this.

1) Did Felix Manalo go to BYU-Hawaii or not. Should be easy to get records on this.
2) Did BYU-Hawaii admit non-LDS at the time he attended (if he did attend). This should be easy to determine as well.
3) If he was a member of the church (whether he was execommunicated or not) there will exist a record of his membership, his expulsion or both.

For INC, whether you want to accept he was a Mormon or not, the above referrences (if found) would pretty much prove that (as long as they are primary sources and subject to peer review). Give us references so we can check it out for ourselves. To the LDS - The INC will just see it as just rumor until proven otherwise.

As for me, I have read, prayed and received an answer for myself that the LDS church is the church on the earth and that is was restored by Jesus Christ through the prophet Joseph Smith. Jesus Christ is my savior (not Joseph).

BTW: A lot of non-LDS will be saved in heaven and a lot of LDS folk will not. Again, its about the fruit baby.

Maybe Joseph Smith was a loon (I personally don't). I'll agree he certainly screwed up a lot. I certainly don't agree with a lot he did. Isn't that how we grow? Wouldn't God want you to grow instead of serving everything on a silver platter? If you read the Bible, the apostles screwed up a lot too, even in the presence of Jesus). You can't judge him by today's standards. A lot was different back in the early 1800s in America. He pissed a lot of people off. Why do you think they were run out of town so much? So cut the man and prophet some slack. He wasn't perfect.

You can say he was never a prophet (opinion based, but not necessarily fact). Say what you want... If you pray to God (assuming you believe in prayer) then do you trust your feelings and not the logic? Is love logical? No! It makes you do the most insane things. So does God work by logic all of the time? No, this is where faith comes in.

In order to find out for yourself, you better eat of the fruit (by their fruits you will know them). Read the Book of Mormon. If you pray about it and you feel in your heart that Jospeh was a fraud and didn't translate the scripture, then go on believing it.

If you feel good about it, then how could a false prophet translate scripture that God has sanctioned by your conviction obtained by Him?

Seems like a pretty simple test to me. Remember a bunch of the Israelites wouldn't look at the brazen serpant that Moses raised in the wilderness to be healed because it was too simple.

Doesn't sound like you are being very Christian about this. What about humility and meekness that Jesus talked about. Are you acting that way?

I think INC will be divided based from the latest news of corruption in the INC, (whoa their leaders against their own leaders in their believed "True" Church of Christ) Is this really the True Church? Felix Manalo is not a prophet, INC claim him to be an angel. Compared to Joseph Smith who declared himself a prophet, Manalo was never a prophet and was NEVER called one. Their ministers claimed him to be the "angel" but there's no revelation nor proof that he was an angel. They only use the Bible but no written modern revelations if he was indeed an angel. INC is breaking apart. I am proud to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the TRUE Church of God and not a church of man as what INC is claiming, for Jesus is a man they claimed and not a God. Therefore how can a corrupt church of man be true?

The Mormons have been a fraud ever since the beginning. The INC made a big mistake copying the Mormons. lol...

Andy dela Cruz, go to this website, http://www.mormonthink.com/ and I guarantee you, your Mormon faith will soon change. So sorry to say this but you have been deceived by the church you love so much. FYI, There is no true church in the world. Thanks to all the informations over the years by ex mormons and ex general authorities of the lds church and byu archives journals of the leaders of the lds church. The Mormons are a made up church and nothing else. Joseph Smith is a false prophet. The book of mormon was copied and compiled from various books like the book of napoleon, view of the hebrews and others before it was written.

The INC is just as the same and much worst. Felix manalo is a fraud and manipulator. The bible says everything about this false church and false prophets.

I understand that you don't believe in the Book of Mormon as I do, but could you please be specific at one topic at a time. You were saying that there is no true church but you believe in the Bible? The bible tells that there was a church organized by Christ himself. False prophets indeed in the gospel of Matthew, but I think it is very clear that "by their fruits" ye shall know them. Every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. Have you prayed about the Book of Mormon? If it was copied, can you prove it? Could you explain how a 14 year old unlearned boy be able to translate an ancient record full of chiasms?

Iglesia is the church of the Devil. I'm a former Iglesia and the doctrines was so wrong and absurd. Until now di pa ako nagpapabinyag sa kahit anong simbahan but i strongly believe in LDS Doctrines in which you can find no fault. I have once had a discussion with LDS Missionaries even at their young age (young gentlemen) they can handle discussions very good. Madami akong tanong and they have given me answers from the Bible and the Book of Mormon as what they said another Testament of Jesus Christ. I'm still reading the said Book until now which they claimed the fruit of the Restoration of the Gospel of Christ. I was enlighten by their teachings and enjoying now the peace and freedom from misunderstanding and misguide by the INC Leaders and Ministers. You can find the truth for your own self.

Remember: Wala akong pinapanigang simbahan i believe in Christ and Heavenly Father and i know they exist.

Who said that Joseph Smith is a god? We never study, proclaim, testify and teach the he is a god. He was a prophet, like Moses, Noah, Abraham and the rest. Every generation people fall short and become a wicked generation and when that happens God will choose an ordinary man to be His spoke person, a prophet to declare we should repent. So, wherever or whoever you got that idea that we worship Bro. Joseph those are not from our church or he is not a member or was a member of the lds church. So before you claim any of our belief please study the right books published by us not the anti-mormon. You might learn a thing or two.

For me, there is only one thing to tell which church is true and that church does not have paid ministers. No allowances, stypen, etc.

If you make polygamy as the basis for falsehood then all the old testament prophets and men of God are also false because they also have many wives like Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and King David and His son Solomon who has 700 wives and 300 concubines. Plural marriages has been practiced in the early days that is why the Muslims do it until now because they claim heritage of the old testament patriarchs. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the early days were commanded by the Lord through the prophets to take care of the widows whose husbands died in the civil war and persecutions. But it was not polygamy, it was plural marriage and there is a big difference between the two because plural marriage only allows men to marry several times while polygamy it is also allowed to women to marry several men and in the church only men in good standing and able to sustain several wives are allowed to enter into such practice with the approval of the first wife. Two hundred women got sealed to the prophet Joseph Smith AFTER he was murdered. So for what purpose is there being sealed to a dead man. wcu cbis I hope before you judge study first so that your words will not be used against you in the day you will also be judged at the judgement bar of the Lord.

A writer in this blog says Felix Manalo attended the LDS Church's college in Hawaii. The LDS Church did not open the college in Hawaii until 1955. Reference for this fact: https://about.byuh.edu/brief_history
I have seen the documents of entry for the two times Felix Manalo entered the U.S. He did not spend time in Hawaii. This is documented in the website: https://www.ancestry.com/search/?name=Felix+Ysagun_Manalo&event=1920_usa_2&birth=1886_philippines_5181&count=50&location=2&name_x=s_s&priority=usa
There seems to be confusion about Felix's surname. The ancestry.com documents, including his passport, lists his surname as Manalo. His mother's family was Ysagun. (The Filipino tradition is to give each child in a family the mother's maiden name for a middle name.)
There is no solid evidence that Felix Manalo attended an LDS school. His entry documents in 1920 (His 1st entry into the U.S.) states his intention to attend Berkeley, but I have never seen any documentation of this. A website, https://sites.google.com/site/fallaciesoftheiglesianicristo/biography-of-felix-y-manalo
has a communication from the Pacific School of Religion saying Manalo had no record of attendance at their school in Berkeley, CA. The state school, now call U C Berkeley, recently closed their theology school. Don't know if the school was old enough to have been around in 1920.
So far I have seen no documentation of any relationship between the LDS church and Felix Manalo. Has anyone else seen any documentation to support the LDS/Manalo story?

The "17 Points of the true church” of Jesus Christ that I heard about that started me on this whole Bible study project

Explanation:  Shortly after joining the church, the missionaries we had over for dinner one night noticed that I was taking notes of Bible scriptures that backed up LDS doctrine.  They told me about a tape that I could get of a talk called “17 points of the true church”.  “17?  Wow, there are 17 scriptures in the Bible that prove the church correct?  Neat!”  But rather than drive the 50 miles to the Seattle Temple (which has a church book store next to it) from Whidbey Island, I just decided to find them on my own.  This document, which I have nicknamed “The 17 Hundred Points of the True Church”, is the result of my tearing apart the Bible in an effort to find the buried treasure – the 17 points the missionaries had told me about (but by the Lord’s wisdom, had not actually given me).  Neat how things work, isn’t it?  Below are the original 17 points that come on the little card with the cassette tape I bought at Deseret Books, which is from the accompanying tape of the wonderful testimony of Mr. Floyd Weston.

1. Christ organized the Church - Ephesians 4:11-14
2. The true church must bear the name of Jesus Christ - Ephesians 5:23, Colossians 1:18
3. The true church must have a foundation of apostles and prophets - Ephesians 2:19-20, 1 Cor. 12:28
4. The true church must have the same organization as Christ's Church - Ephesians 4:11-14
5. The true church must claim divine authority - Hebrews 5:4-10
6. The true church must have no paid ministry - Isaiah 45:13, 1 Peter 5:2
7. The true church must baptize by full immersion - Matthew 3:13-16
8. The true church must bestow the gift of the Holy Spirit by the laying on of hands - Acts 8:14-17
9. The true church must practice genuine divine healing - Mark 3:14-15
10. The true church must teach that God and Jesus are separate individuals - Heb. 1:3, Acts 7:55-56, John 17:11 & 20:17
11. The true church must teach that God and Jesus have bodies of flesh and bone - Luke 24:36-51, Acts 1:9-11
12. The officers of the true church must be called by God, not taken upon by themselves - Hebrews 5:4, Exodus 40:13-16
13. The true church must claim revelation from God - Amos 3:7
14. The true church must be a missionary church - Matthew 28:19-20
15. The true church must be a restored church (previously removed, then re-instated) - Acts 3:19-20
16. The true church must practice baptism for the dead - 1 Corinthians 15:16 -29
17. By their fruits ye shall know them - Matthew 7:20
** Why are these things important? - Hebrews 13:8

Well, the Catholic church before it was called Catholic was the church Christ left until the people killed off Chrit's Apostles. Lionel, who was the first Bishop of the now Catholic church, was member of the true church. Though he was excommunicated by Apostle Paul before Paul died. So that would mean that there is no Preisthood holders remaining on the Earth and so the Earth went to a spiritual famine when God took the truth away from the earth.
